Spell/skill system: There is no pre-defined list of spells or skills. Rather, there is a basic ranking system. It uses numbers from 1-10 (Rank 1, Rank 2, etc.) to judge the average power level of a spell or skill, if taken by itself. For comparison, Rank 3 is the most normal adventurers can get to, Rank 7 is the average of the tomb, Rank 10 is the strongest: and it's equivalent to natural disasters. Each rank costs more mana to use. Combining spells is possible, but it will cost slightly more mana then casting them separately, due to the convenience of dual casting. Both spells and skills cost MP. Spells are more magical oriented, Skills are more physical oriented. There are also 'Super' spells/skills. These do not cost MP: however they have a long cast time (variant on the power of the spell/skill) and can only be cast a certain amount of times a day. Some items can reduce the time taken, but these are exceedingly rare. Spells also increase in power based on the spell caster: for example a Rank 3 {FIREBALL} cast by a high-level archdemon is much more powerful than one cast by a demihuman with fireball as his most powerful spell. Spreadsheet of known spells/skills (listed by name: alphabetical order. Includes Rank, if it's a spell/skill, description and creator.): Spell/Skill Spreadsheet (Thanks Viridian)Items: Like spells, there is no predetermined list of items. There is a ranking system, however, to list their overall power:
Minor, Medium, Major, Greater, High, Magic, Relic, Legendary, Divine.
Every item will do something. It may not be positive in the case of some minor items, but it still does something.
Items from Relic and above always have unique traits.
Items from Magic and above can sometimes take some time to attune to the owner, allowing greater powers. All Legendary and Divine items have properties which are only available by attending.
There are also 'World-class' items. These are one-time only, and the most powerful items in the game. The effects are truly ridiculous. One thing to note is that the effects can only be broken by another world-class item. If you mind control someone using an item, they stay mind controlled until you use another world-class item to remove their status effect, or kill them and resurrect them.
There is no resurrecting entities who have been killed by world-class items, unless by another world-class item. If this happens to a player, I'll give them a lower power character with some pre-defined base powers to play with. If the player is resurrected, they can choose between both characters: the other becomes an NPC.
